Grid-scale batteries are the fastest-growing piece of the energy storage landscape — lithium-ion accounted for roughly 95% of new grid storage installations by the mid-2020s, mostly LFP chemistry chosen for its long cycle life and low cost rather than its energy density. This simulator drives a simplified day: solar output rises and falls with the sun, demand climbs through the afternoon into an evening peak, and a battery bank charges on the midday surplus and discharges to smooth the evening ramp. Round-trip efficiency, capacity, solar fleet size and demand peak are all tunable, so you can see directly how storage sizing and battery losses trade off against how much demand is left unmet by the grid.
