Photoelectrochemical Cell: Band Bending & Hydrogen Evolution

This simulator models a photoelectrochemical (PEC) water-splitting cell: a semiconductor photoanode immersed in electrolyte next to a metal cathode, wired together in an external circuit. Choosing a photoanode material, applied bias, illumination and donor density drives a real Mott-Schottky depletion-width calculation and a Gärtner-style collected-photocurrent estimate, which in turn set the rate that hydrogen bubbles form at the cathode and oxygen bubbles form at the photoanode — visualised in 3D alongside a live band-bending diagram of the surface space-charge layer.
