Methane Pyrolysis Reactor — Turquoise Hydrogen Production

Methane pyrolysis cracks CH4 straight into hydrogen gas and solid carbon in a single step, skipping the CO2 emissions of conventional steam-methane reforming — the reaction chemists call "turquoise hydrogen." This simulator renders a real horizontal plug-flow reactor: methane molecules enter one end, and each one is assigned a reaction time sampled from the Arrhenius rate constant k(T) for the chosen catalyst. Raise the temperature or switch from bare thermal cracking to a nickel or carbon-bed catalyst and watch the conversion curve, hydrogen output rate and the growing pile of solid carbon respond exactly as first-order plug-flow kinetics predict — while the feed-rate slider trades residence time for throughput, the same trade-off real reactor engineers have to balance.
