Nanocatalyst Fuel Cell Electrode Simulator (2D)

Platinum is the single most expensive component of a hydrogen fuel cell, so catalyst designers spend it as thin films of nanoparticles rather than solid foil — every atom on a particle's surface can catalyse the oxygen-reduction reaction (ORR), while every atom buried inside contributes nothing. This 2D simulator renders a pannable, zoomable top-down patch of catalyst-loaded carbon support and lets you resize the platinum nanoparticles, change how much platinum mass is spread across the electrode, and drive the cathode with an overpotential, while a live Tafel plot shows exactly how the specific surface area, roughness factor and resulting ORR current density respond to each change.
