Geothermal NCG Abatement: 2D Bed Kinetics & Space-Velocity Coupling

This 2D companion to the 3D geothermal NCG-abatement plant asks a question the 3D lumped-efficiency slider cannot answer: what actually sets the catalytic bed's conversion rate? Instead of letting you dial in an abatement efficiency directly, this simulator derives it from real first-order reaction kinetics acting over the gas's true residence time in the bed — itself computed from the ideal-gas volumetric flow rate and the bed's cross-sectional area. The result is a genuine coupling absent from the 3D model: push more steam through the separator and the non-condensable gas flow rises, the superficial velocity through the bed rises with it, residence time falls, and the conversion efficiency quietly drops — even though nothing about the catalyst itself changed. Each gas parcel is sampled from a real exponential capture-time distribution as it crosses the bed, so the fraction captured versus vented emerges from the same physics driving the numeric readouts, not a fixed dial.
