ADC / DAC Sampling & Quantization (2D)

The 3D model shows an oscilloscope-style view of the same converter chain. This 2D companion draws the actual signal-processing math on a flat timeline: a continuous sine wave, the discrete instants the ADC samples it, the finite set of voltage levels it rounds those samples to, and the zero-order-hold staircase a DAC produces on the way back to analog. Push the sample rate below twice the signal frequency and watch true aliasing appear — the reconstructed wave locks onto the wrong, lower frequency because that is genuinely all the samples can prove.
