How it works

Each of the play's 30 script beats has its own memory stability S (in days) — how slowly it fades once rehearsed. Retention follows the classic Ebbinghaus forgetting curve:

R(t) = exp( -(t - t_last) / S )

where t_last is the day of the beat's last rehearsal. A freshly-learned beat has low stability (S ≈ 1.5 days) and decays fast; a well-drilled beat has high stability and barely fades between rehearsals.

Rehearsing a beat resets t_last to today and grows its stability by the spacing effect: reviewing a beat you've partly forgotten strengthens memory far more than reviewing one you still remember perfectly (a "desirable difficulty"):

S_new = S + ΔS,  R resets to 1.0

Quality is your rehearsal focus (0–100%). The Weak-spots strategy only rehearses beats whose retention has dropped below 55% — a form of spaced repetition — while Full run-through drills every beat regardless of how well it's still held, which wastes rehearsal time on lines that are already solid.

Predicted at opening extrapolates every beat's current stability forward, with no further rehearsal, to the day you set as opening night — showing whether today's schedule will actually hold up on stage.
