🐝 Reading the Hive: Colony Health Diagnostics Lab

An interactive 3D brood frame and hive entrance where you set queen laying quality, colony population, disease signs and season to practise reading the classic visual cues a beekeeper uses to judge colony health without pulling every frame.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

The brood-cell grid shifts between a solid capped sheet and a scattered "pepperbox" pattern as you move the pattern-quality slider, overlays chalkbrood mummies, sacbrood cappings or Varroa mites when disease signs are selected, and the entrance and frame edges fill with more or fewer bees as population changes.

🎮 How to Use

Drag the brood pattern and population sliders, then pick a disease sign and season to see the frame and entrance respond. Read the live "Field read" panel, which combines all four inputs the way an inspector would.

💡 Did You Know?

A spotty brood pattern alone doesn't prove disease — it's also the normal signature of an old or poorly mated queen, which is why experienced inspectors always cross-check the pattern against other signs before deciding what to do next.
