This simulation illustrates the concept of adapting a curriculum based on student needs and performance. A simulated learner works through a 21-topic knowledge graph arranged in five tiers; success at each topic is drawn from an item-response (Rasch) model comparing the learner's ability to the topic's difficulty. When the same topic is failed repeatedly, the adaptive engine detours the learner into a remedial review of an unmastered prerequisite before returning them to the main sequence — visualized live as a 3D graph with a moving learner marker and a trail of the actual (non-linear) path taken. It highlights the importance of flexible learning approaches and personalized instruction: two runs with the same starting ability rarely take the same route through the material.
