Termite Mound Passive Ventilation Stack

Fungus-farming termite mounds keep their underground nest breathable without a single moving part, using the same physics that draws smoke up a chimney. Metabolic heat from the colony and its fungus garden warms the core air relative to the mound's surface; that density difference drives a slow convective loop — warm air rising through a central chimney, spreading into porous ridged conduits near the surface where it cools and trades gas through the thin outer wall, then sinking back down to the nest. This simulator renders that loop as a real 3D cutaway and lets you tune the mound's height, the core–surface temperature gap, the chimney's throat radius and how many peripheral conduits are open, recomputing the stack pressure, induced flow rate and nest air-change rate from the governing thermosiphon equations live.
