Landfill Gas Well: Radius of Influence & Capture Efficiency

An active landfill gas-collection well pulls methane and CO₂ through the porous waste body toward its screen under vacuum-induced Darcy flow, while continued anaerobic decomposition keeps generating gas that migrates outward and upward on its own. This simulator renders that competition in 3D: hundreds of gas parcels drift through a modelled waste mound, pulled toward a central extraction well when they fall inside its radius of influence, and escaping as fugitive emissions through the cover or side slopes when generation pressure wins instead. Vacuum, waste permeability, generation rate and site radius are all adjustable, with live readouts for capture efficiency, the well's radius of influence, and the fugitive emission rate — the same trade-offs real landfill gas engineers balance when sizing extraction wells and spacing.
