Wildlife Corridors & Habitat Connectivity

Roads, farmland and towns don't just occupy space — they slice continuous habitat into isolated islands, cutting off the routes animals once used to find mates, food and new territory. This simulation shows a single population split into two patches by a road, and what a wildlife corridor of adjustable width does to restore the connection: fewer risky road crossings, more successful migrants, and a measurable recovery in genetic health and population growth on the side that was previously cut off. Turn the corridor width down to zero to watch a fragment slowly decline in isolation, then widen it to watch the population recover.
