Materials Recovery Facility: Optical & Eddy-Current Sorting (2D)

This is a top-down 2D rebuild of the physical sorting line inside a real single-stream Materials Recovery Facility: a mixed conveyor of steel cans, aluminum cans, PET and HDPE plastic, cardboard and contamination passes under an overhead magnetic drum that pulls ferrous metal free, then a near-infrared optical scanner that fires an air jet at recognizable plastic types, and finally an eddy-current separator whose spinning magnetic rotor flings conductive aluminum further off the belt's end than everything else. Four real controls — belt speed, contamination rate, NIR sensor accuracy and eddy-current field strength — feed a live physical model, with plastics-stream purity, aluminum recovery, throughput and overall diversion rate updating live on the dashboard strip as items land in their bins. Drag the main canvas to pan along the belt.
