How it works

This is a continuous, event-driven companion to the 3D remineralization scenes elsewhere on the site — instead of stepping through fixed narrative stages, it runs a live Stephan-curve pH clock against a depth-resolved enamel cross-section, so you can watch a diet pattern and a care routine fight it out over simulated hours.

pH clock — a sugar/acid challenge drops plaque pH toward ~4.2 instantly, then it relaxes back to resting pH ≈ 7.0 with a rate set by salivary flow, matching the ~30–60 min Stephan curve.
Depth-resolved mineral — enamel is modeled as 10 bands from the outer surface to the enamel-dentin junction. Below critical pH, mineral dissolves fastest at accessible outer bands; above it, ions redeposit, but deeper bands recover slower as surface mineral gain occludes the diffusion path — the same diminishing-returns kinetics described in the cariology literature.
Fluoride & bioactive materials — fluoride builds a decaying reservoir F(t) that lowers the effective critical pH toward ~4.5 (fluorapatite) and speeds remineralization; bioactive treatment injects mineral directly and boosts uptake for a while, modeling nHAp/CPP-ACP delivery.
