Freenet distributes content across a peer-to-peer darknet with no central server and no lookup table: every node has a location on a ring and forwards a request greedily to whichever neighbor sits closest to the target key, decrementing a hops-to-live counter as it goes. This simulator renders that darknet in 3D — structural neighbor links plus small-world shortcut links — and animates real insert and request traffic hop by hop, caching data along every successful path exactly as Freenet does. A toggle switches on the probabilistic HTL decrement used near the real requester, which is the actual mechanism Freenet uses to stop a relay from telling whether it is one hop from the source or forwarding on someone else's behalf.
