How it works

Every action online — a form filled in, an app opened, a page loaded — emits a small burst of personal data. Whether that burst reaches a tracker depends on two things you control: how much you consent to share, and how strong your privacy/encryption protections are. This simulator streams a particle for every emitted burst outward from the "You" sphere toward one of the active trackers. Each particle first crosses the shield ring around You; the stronger your encryption strength, the higher the chance it is intercepted and reflected — visualised as it turns back and fades before ever reaching a collector.

Consent level — how much you agree to share (cookie banners, app permissions, loyalty programs). Higher consent means more particles are emitted per second.
Encryption / privacy strength — VPNs, HTTPS, ad blockers, tracker-blocking browser settings. Higher strength reflects a larger share of particles at the shield before they ever leave.
Active trackers — how many separate companies (social networks, advertisers, data brokers, apps) are currently profiling you. More active trackers means more destinations competing for every particle that gets through.
Footprint size — the running total of particles that actually reached a tracker and were collected; this is the part of your digital footprint you can no longer take back.

Real-world relevance: this is the same trade-off behind every privacy setting you touch — GDPR consent choices, browser tracker blocking, VPN/encryption strength — turning down consent or turning up protection measurably shrinks how much of your data is actually collected, even while some trackers stay active.
