Polymorphic Malware: Mutation Engine vs Signature Detection (2D)

This 2D companion to the 3D polymorphic-malware simulator drives the exact same byte-mutation model — a 64-byte genome with a fixed 12-byte core payload and a 52-byte polymorphic shell that rewrites itself generation by generation — but lays the genome out as a flat grid and adds a second panel the rotating 3D view has no room for: a live timeline plotting the genome's Hamming distance against the signature threshold, with every generation's detection outcome (signature catch, heuristic catch, or evasion) marked as a coloured dot. Raise the mutation rate and watch the distance line climb past the threshold within a handful of generations; raise the heuristic sensitivity and watch orange catches appear even while the shell is still well outside the signature's reach.
