Center: victim's own node
Bright ring: current peer table
A peer-to-peer overlay has no central authority to vouch for identities, which is exactly what makes it vulnerable to Sybil attacks: an adversary mints many cheap fake nodes and tries to occupy every slot in a victim's peer table, isolating it inside an attacker-controlled view of the network — an eclipse attack. This 2D canvas version renders a victim node and its candidate pool of honest (green) and Sybil-controlled (red) peers as a live network graph, runs the victim's peer-selection process under a chosen policy (naive random or subnet-diversity-constrained), and — critically — lets you run real Monte Carlo trials that measure, not assert, the empirical eclipse probability of each policy at any Sybil fraction and table size.
