💎Crystal growth from solution

Solute units attach to the crystal at a rate set by supersaturation and detach at a rate set by how many lattice bonds hold them. Low temperature and high supersaturation give branched dendrites; warm, weakly supersaturated solutions dissolve loose corners and leave flat facets.
