Glaciers & Sea Level

A one-dimensional flowline model of ice over editable bedrock. Ice deforms (Glen's law), slides, floats off at a grounding line and calves, while climate sets where snow accumulates and melts.

Shallow-ice approximation with Glen's law (n=3, Paterson–Budd rate factor from a column temperature model), Weertman sliding with an effective-pressure factor, a Schoof-style grounding-line flux and a spreading ice shelf, thickness-threshold calving, an elastic-plate / relaxing-mantle bed response, and a 1-D mass-balance model from the equilibrium-line altitude. It is a teaching model: the flowline is scaled to a representative width, and lateral stresses are only parameterised.
