COCOMO Software Cost Estimator

The Constructive Cost Model turns a single number — how many thousand lines of code a project is expected to run — into an effort estimate in person-months, a nominal schedule in calendar months, and the average team size that ties the two together. This simulator plots the effort curve for all three of Boehm's project classes (organic, semi-detached, embedded) as real 3D curves, drops a live marker on whichever one is selected, and grows or shrinks an animated platform of engineers to match the resulting staffing estimate. Two further sliders — an Effort Adjustment Factor for team and process maturity, and a schedule-compression control — show how squeezing the calendar or under-resourcing a team changes the numbers non-linearly, the same dynamic behind Brooks's Law ("adding people to a late project makes it later").
