This simulator recreates a commercial product shoot — a glass bottle and a brushed-metal jar on a seamless studio sweep, lit by a real softbox key light, a fill light and an optional rim light. Every control maps to a real photographic quantity: softbox width and distance combine into the light's angular size, which sets whether the cast shadow is hard or soft exactly as the inverse-square and angular-size laws predict; the key-angle slider reproduces the classic lighting patterns advertising photographers name and choose deliberately (butterfly, loop, Rembrandt, split); and the fill slider sets the lighting ratio in stops, the number every product photographer uses to describe how much contrast is in a shot. Watch the live readouts and the rendered shadows change together as you adjust each control.
