Rolling dunes shimmer under a scorching sun as a lone camel wanders toward a shimmering oasis on the horizon. The dune surface is a 400x400 plane with 140 segments per side, its height driven by a layered sine/cosine function so ridges roll smoothly to the horizon. Two custom ShaderMaterial bands vertically displace their vertices with a two-frequency sine wave and fade their edges to fake the rippling optical distortion of hot air, while 1,200 semi-transparent points drift near ground level as fine dust haze. The camel walks a closed CatmullRomCurve3 loop, its legs swinging on a sine-based gait cycle and its body bobbing with each step.
