How it works

Each dot is one person. The blue cluster is the host culture (Group A); the second cluster is a migrating group (Group B) applying one of Berry's four acculturation strategies. Every frame, each person eases toward a target point built from their group's anchor plus a wobble offset scaled by how tightly that culture clusters, plus a small random-walk jitter:

target = anchor + spread·dir·wobble(t) + jitter
spread = maxSpread − collectivism·(maxSpread − minSpread)
pos += (target − pos)·k·dt

Individualism ↔ Collectivism — sets how tightly each group's members cluster around their shared centroid; high collectivism pulls people into a dense huddle, high individualism lets them drift apart.
Power distance — how strongly a small hierarchy pulls people to different heights; high power distance stacks a few "leaders" clearly above the rest, low power distance keeps everyone at the same level.
Uncertainty avoidance — dampens the random jitter each person accumulates; high uncertainty avoidance keeps formations rigid and predictable, low avoidance lets people wander more freely.
Acculturation strategy — moves Group B's anchor and shifts its color toward the host culture: Integration keeps Group B distinct but close, Assimilation merges it fully into Group A, Separation keeps it distant and unblended, Marginalization pushes it away while also collapsing its own internal cohesion (belonging to neither culture).

Real-world relevance: these are Hofstede's cultural dimensions and Berry's acculturation model, the two most-cited frameworks for comparing how societies organize relationships, hierarchy and risk, and how migrating groups adapt to a host culture.
