This simulator tracks a single tsunami wave as it crosses a continental shelf and climbs a beach, driven entirely by real shallow-water physics: shoaling amplification via Green's Law, a depth-limited breaking criterion, and a bore-decay model through the surf zone, capped off with the Synolakis (1987) empirical runup law used in real tsunami inundation studies. Adjust the offshore wave height, period, shelf depth and beach slope to see how each one trades off between how far the wave breaks offshore and how high it ultimately runs up the beach face — the same relationships coastal engineers use to draw tsunami hazard and evacuation maps.
