Climate Model Resolution Lab

Environmental technology's climate-modeling toolchain lives or dies on a tradeoff most people never see: how many grid cells can you afford, and what does skipping resolution cost you? This simulator runs a real 1-D latitudinal energy-balance model — insolation by latitude, a linearized outgoing-longwave term, CO2 radiative forcing, meridional heat diffusion and an ice-albedo feedback — solved with an implicit tridiagonal solver on a 3D globe whose latitude bands you can literally see get blockier as you drop the grid resolution. A hidden 90-band reference model runs alongside your chosen grid so the "grid error" readout shows, in real numbers, exactly how much accuracy a coarse climate-model grid gives up.
