Bio-Concrete Self-Healing: Bacterial Calcite Precipitation

Bio-concrete embeds dormant urease-positive bacterial spores and a calcium-lactate feedstock directly in the mix so that, when a crack opens and water gets in, the bacteria wake up and precipitate calcium carbonate (calcite) that seals the gap on its own. This simulator drives the underlying microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP) chemistry with real Michaelis–Menten substrate kinetics, a bell-shaped thermal activity curve and a hard moisture gate, rendering a 3D slab whose crack visibly narrows and fills with growing calcite crystals as spore density, calcium-lactate concentration, temperature and moisture are tuned — while live readouts track elapsed days, percent healed, precipitation rate and remaining crack width.
