Carbon Capture Network — 3D Sources-to-Storage Companion
This is a genuine Three.js/WebGL companion to the 2D Carbon Capture Network simulator. It renders the same three-stage CCS chain — an industrial emission source, a compressed CO₂ pipeline, and a geological storage reservoir — as a real orbitable 3D scene instead of three flat calculator panels, with animated particles carrying captured CO₂ down a genuine tube-geometry pipeline into an underground reservoir that visibly fills over simulated years.
The underlying math is identical to the original: captured CO₂ is emissions × efficiency with cost captured × $/t, compression energy is throughput × kWh/t × 365 / 1000 MWh/year with pipeline maintenance length × $12,000/km, and reservoir fill time is capacity(t) / (injection rate × 365) years with a risk index of min(1, monitoring/5 + 0.3) — exactly as in the 2D capture/transport/storage modules. Adjust any of the nine source, transport or storage parameters and the pipeline glow, compressor heat, particle flow rate and reservoir fill level all respond live; press Play to advance simulated years and watch the reservoir fill toward its computed fill time while the risk-tinted ring shifts from green to red.
Drag to orbit the source, pipeline and reservoir, scroll or pinch to zoom, and use the simulation-speed slider to fast-forward the multi-year fill process.
