Volcano Ground Deformation Profile — Mogi Model (2D)

Long before a volcano erupts, the ground above its magma reservoir often rises — sometimes by centimeters, sometimes by meters — as pressurized magma pushes into the crust. This 2D companion to the 3D Mogi terrain renderer shows the two views a real volcano observatory actually stares at: a satellite-style InSAR interferogram, where each rainbow fringe traces a fixed increment of ground motion wrapping around the inflating summit, and a radial cross-section profile through the deformation dome. Tune the reservoir's depth, radius and magma influx rate to watch the fringes tighten and the profile rise in real time, read live uplift and horizontal-displacement values at simulated GPS stations, and trigger an eruption to see the classic co-eruptive deflation signal race back outward as stored pressure releases.
