Tsunami Shallow-Water Wave Model (2D)

This simulator numerically solves the nonlinear shallow-water equations — the real conservation-of-mass and conservation-of-momentum PDEs used by production tsunami models — on a finite-volume grid spanning a shoaling shelf and beach. Unlike the 3D companion simulator, which applies Green's Law, a fixed breaker index and the Synolakis runup formula analytically, here shoaling amplification, wave breaking and beach runup all emerge directly from the numerical integration of the governing equations, with a well-balanced (Audusse) treatment of the bed-slope source term so the model doesn't spuriously "leak" energy from the bathymetry itself. Adjust the offshore wave height, period, shelf depth and beach slope and watch the live readouts — all measured straight from the simulated field, not computed from a formula — track how the wave transforms on its way to shore.
