🧊 Iceberg Melting & Archimedes' Law
Drag the temperature slider and watch the ice melt, calve, and the sea level readout respond.

Archimedes' Law

Buoyant force = weight of displaced fluid. Ice is lighter than water, so the iceberg sits about 90% submerged and only 10% above the surface.

Sea ice vs. land ice

The iceberg already displaces its own volume of water — its melting barely changes sea level.
A land glacier adds new water to the ocean as it melts — sea level really rises.
Live comparison:
🧊 Iceberg (sea ice): melts, but the water was already displaced — sea level stays put.
🏔 Land glacier: melts and runs into the ocean — sea level slowly climbs.
