Biological Carbon Pump — Depth-Time Flux Diagram (2D)

The ocean's biological pump moves organic carbon from the sunlit surface toward the deep sea as sinking "marine snow," while bacteria respire part of it back to CO₂ along the way. This 2D companion simulates that process as an Eulerian field on a depth grid — a finite-volume advection–decay solver, not a flattened view of particles in 3D — and renders it as a scrolling depth-time heatmap alongside a live flux-vs-depth profile. Tune primary production, sinking speed and water temperature and watch the simulated export flux and sequestration efficiency converge exactly to the exponential attenuation law predicted by first-order remineralization kinetics.
