Melt Pond Evolution on Arctic Sea Ice (2D Per-Cell Energy Balance + Hydraulic Routing)

This 2D companion to the 3D melt-pond simulator keeps the same real-world subject — the Arctic ice-albedo feedback loop driven by melt-pond formation — but computes it independently and at finer resolution. Instead of four globally-averaged area fractions painted onto a fixed, pre-ranked topography, every cell here runs its own surface energy balance in physical units (latent heat of fusion, ice vs. snow density), tracks its own snow depth, ice thickness and pond depth, and exchanges standing meltwater with its neighbors through a mass-conserving hydraulic-head routing step. The result is melt ponds that emerge dynamically in the floe's real low ground and ice that melts through locally, cell by cell, rather than everywhere at once past a single global threshold. Tune solar forcing, starting snow depth and meltwater drainage to see how fast — and how unevenly — a floe's surface can collapse in one melt season.
