Reinforced Concrete Beam Flexural Failure

This simulation demonstrates fundamental civil engineering concepts of structural stability and material strength by putting a reinforced-concrete beam through a real load test. Drag the reinforcement ratio, concrete strength and section depth, then ramp a midspan point load and watch the beam pass through cracking, steel yield and concrete crushing exactly as governed by ACI-style moment-curvature equations — with the failure mode flipping between a slow, ductile under-reinforced collapse and a sudden, brittle over-reinforced one depending on how much steel you put in the section.
