Instead of running one reaction at a time, HTE runs dozens to
hundreds of tiny reactions in parallel — each well a different
combination of catalyst, temperature and stoichiometry — then reads
out yield automatically. A robotic liquid handler doses each well in
turn; the whole plate becomes a live map of which corner of
condition-space actually works ("hits", shown green) versus which
doesn't (red).
yield(well) = f(T, catalyst_id, loading) + noise
hit rate = hits / wells_completed
throughput = wells_completed / elapsed_time
- Dispense rate — how many wells the robot doses per second.
- Temperature range — the span of temperatures swept across the plate's rows.
- Catalyst screen width — how many distinct catalyst/loading combinations are swept across the plate's columns.
- Run / Reset — start the automated sweep or clear the plate to screen again.
