Nanoparticle Synthesis & Quantum Confinement

Nanomaterials chemistry turns a handful of dissolved precursor molecules into a batch of size-controlled particles — quantum dots, gold nanoparticles, nanotubes — each with properties that depend on size in ways bulk material never shows. This simulation grows a colloidal batch inside a virtual flask: a nucleation burst seeds particles, diffusion-limited growth consumes the shared monomer pool, and quantum confinement shifts each particle's colour as its diameter changes. Surfactant coverage decides whether the batch clumps into aggregates or settles into an ordered superlattice, and Ostwald ripening lets big particles grow at small ones' expense once the monomer runs low.
