Supercritical Water Oxidation — Phase Field & Reactor Profile

This is a 2D-native companion to the 3D SCWO reactor tour, built from the same physics but represented as two grid-based fields rather than a particle-filled tube. The top field is a live heatmap of water density over the full temperature–pressure operating plane, computed from the same engineering correlation anchored to water's true critical point (374 °C, 22.1 MPa). The bottom field is a finite-difference solution of the plug-flow advection–reaction equation ∂C/∂t + u·∂C/∂x = −k·C, rendered as a scrolling waterfall so the destruction front through the reactor is directly visible, converging on the same DE = 1 − e^(−k·τ) result as the particle-based version. Salt precipitation is modeled as a mean-field relaxation of the precipitated fraction, mathematically equivalent to averaging the underlying stochastic salt-particle picture.
