Chlor-Alkali Membrane Cell (2D)

This 2D cross-section simulator implements the same real industrial chlor-alkali electrochemistry as the 3D version — the process behind essentially all of the world's chlorine and caustic soda (NaOH). A cation-exchange membrane separates a brine anolyte from a dilute-NaOH catholyte; at the titanium anode chloride ions genuinely oxidize to chlorine gas, at the nickel cathode water genuinely reduces to hydrogen and hydroxide, and sodium ions genuinely migrate across the membrane to close the circuit. Drag the current density to speed up electrolysis and gas evolution at Faraday's-law-correct stoichiometry, lower the membrane's Na⁺ selectivity to watch chloride co-ions leak through and genuinely degrade the live NaOH purity readout (a real time-integrated ratio of accumulated NaOH to accumulated NaCl contaminant, not a shortcut), and adjust the brine feed concentration to see its effect on cell voltage — all with live gas-bubble animation scaled to the actual computed production rates and a running voltage/purity chart.
