Book Publishing Pipeline: Print-Run Economics

This simulation models the business side of publishing a book: choosing a print-run size, a cover price, a marketing budget and a retailer discount, then watching the copies flow off the press toward two destinations — the bookstore shelf if they sell, or the remainder bin if they don't. Economies of scale make larger runs cheaper per copy but riskier in aggregate; marketing spend buys sell-through with diminishing returns rather than guaranteed sales; and the live unit-cost, break-even and profit/loss readouts update instantly as the levers move, the same trade-offs an acquisitions editor weighs before a book ever reaches print.
