Tendon Fiber Alignment Bioreactor

This simulator models the mechanical conditioning step of engineered-tendon tissue bioengineering: hundreds of collagen fibers seeded through a cylindrical scaffold construct respond to cyclic uniaxial strain from a bioreactor by rotating toward the loading axis, exactly as fibroblast-remodeled collagen does in a real tendon construct. Adjust strain amplitude, cycling frequency and a time-lapse conditioning rate to watch the nematic order parameter climb and the estimated anisotropic tensile modulus grow, or switch to static culture to see why unconditioned constructs stay mechanically isotropic.
