Neuromuscular Junction: Quantal Synaptic Transmission

This simulator models the neuromuscular junction as the discrete, probabilistic system it actually is. Firing an action potential triggers a real binomial release process across a pool of docked vesicles, with release probability set by a physiologically accurate 4th-power Ca²⁺-cooperativity law. Each released quantum of acetylcholine is rendered crossing the synaptic cleft to bind postsynaptic receptors, and the summed end-plate potential is checked against the firing threshold live — so you can watch the neuromuscular junction's safety factor shrink under low Ca²⁺, receptor blockade, or high-frequency depression exactly as it does in real synaptic fatigue and neuromuscular disease.
