Ballistospore Discharge: Buller's Drop Catapult

Mushroom gills fire their spores with a mechanism unlike anything else in biology: a hygroscopic droplet condenses at the base of each spore, and when it merges with the spore's surface the released surface-tension energy launches the spore sideways off its sterigma in about two microseconds — tens of thousands of g of acceleration with no muscle involved. This simulator renders a cross-section of the hymenium, the spore-bearing layer lining a mushroom gill, and launches real spores from it using the actual surface-energy and Stokes-drag equations that govern Buller's drop. Tune the spore radius, the fraction of surface energy converted to kinetic energy, the gill gap width, and gravity itself, and watch live readouts show whether each launch clears the gap, collides with the neighboring gill, or — with gravity switched off — never falls at all.
