How it works

This 2D companion drives the exact same logistic (Verhulst) growth model as the 3D bioreactor scene, but renders it as a flat side-cutaway of the vessel: a disc of cells expands from a central scaffold ring as the population grows, instead of an orbiting 3D spheroid.

dN/dt = mu * N * (1 - N/K)
mu = mu_max * [GF/(Kgf+GF)] * [O2/(Km+O2)] * exp(-((T-37)/sigma)^2)
doubling time t_d = ln(2) / mu
  • Growth factor dose — mitogenic signalling strength (Monod term, half-saturation Kgf).
  • Dissolved O₂ — oxygen for aerobic metabolism; low O₂ starves growth (Monod term, half-saturation Km).
  • Temperature — cells grow fastest near 37°C; a Gaussian penalty models cold/heat stress.
  • Impeller speed — mixing rate, shown as a spinning paddle icon; improves nutrient/O₂ transport.
