Experiment: how far does a mole dig in a day as the soil hardens?
Eight hours of pure digging in fresh soil, for seven soil strengths. The full simulation (stochastic worm encounters, handling time, shafts and molehills) is compared with a closed-form energy budget, and the break-even strength where a metre of tunnel stops paying for itself is found.
