Ant Colony Pheromone Simulation
This is a stigmergic simulation: ants wander randomly until they find food, then carry it home while depositing pheromone along the way. Pheromone continuously evaporates, so only trails that are repeatedly reinforced by many ants survive. Because shorter paths get walked (and thus reinforced) faster than longer ones, the colony collectively "discovers" near-optimal routes between nest and food without any central coordination.
