Higher reaction speed closes the colour gap faster ยท higher swim speed crosses patches sooner, forcing the controller to keep re-adapting.

Cuttlefish Camouflage Lab (2D)

This 2D top-down lab drives a real gradient-descent chromatophore controller: three pigment channels (yellow, red-brown, black) are nudged, frame by frame, toward whatever colour the reef shows directly under the cuttlefish, and the match is scored with the redmean perceptual colour-difference formula rather than a decorative slider readout. Tune reef patchiness, reaction speed and swim speed to see how quickly โ€” or badly โ€” the pigment system keeps up as the animal crosses sand, coral, rock and kelp.
