Termite mound
Depleted mound
Aardvark
This 2D companion strips the foraging problem down to the numbers that actually drive it: an aardvark moves across a field of termite mounds, each with its own colony size and a diminishing-returns extraction curve, and decides — every frame — whether the mound it is digging is still worth the time by comparing its current extraction rate to the running average rate for the whole session, travel included. That is the marginal value theorem in its simplest form, and the mound-density slider makes its central, testable prediction visible: pack the mounds closer together and the optimal giving-up time drops, because cheaper travel raises the bar the aardvark measures every mound against.
