Top-down 2D view of the same real ACO algorithm as the 3D version. Each colony every ant builds a full delivery tour using the transition rule τ^α·η^β, then pheromone evaporates and ants deposit new pheromone proportional to how short their route was. The strip chart tracks the best-known route length as it (only ever) improves across colonies.
