A real two-stage rocket ascent: mass, thrust and specific impulse integrate the rocket equation (Tsiolkovsky) frame-by-frame, including gravity losses. When Stage 1 exhausts its propellant it is jettisoned and falls away under gravity while Stage 2 ignites and continues the climb.
